A quaint little brasserie serving simple, inexpensive French comfort food with a touch of flair – the St Pete Brasserie offers that perfect union of a highly respected chef creating unpretentious, affordable food. The brainchild of Andrew Wilkins, former manager of the wildly popular Ceviche, the St Pete Brasserie has all the indications of becoming just as successful.
The rustic menu is excellent, reminiscent of any you’d find in countless humble neighborhood restaurants across France; offering hors d’oeuvres and plats principaux that will dazzle your taste-buds and win your heart.
For starters the rich, thick Salmon Mousse is delicious when spread liberally upon planks of buttery crostini, and the Onion Tart Alsacien Style combines a crunchy, flaky, flavorful crust with a heavenly creamy, cheesey onion filling – in fact it’s almost a meal by itself!
Entrees include the Tuna Provencal (tomato, olive and fennel sauce grilled to perfection), Confit of Duck (tender duck tempered by seasoned and braised cabbage), and the excellent Steak Frites Du Jour (sirloin with thin, crisp fries and bordelaise sauce).
The St Pete Brasserie is casual chic with a modern décor. Free of pretentions, virtually everything on the menu comes in at less than $15, making it one of the most inexpensive places to eat in downtown St Pete.
