What is there to say about Chattaway that hasn’t already been said? After ninety years – yes ninety – it’s still credited with serving up the best burgers in town and has been at the top of everyone’s ‘Best Of’ list at one point or another – St Pete Times, TBO, Creative Loafing et al.

Tucked away a mile south of downtown St Pete, this little gem draws people from across the Bay Area – such is its reputation and legacy. Step across the wooden footbridge next to the koi pond and you’re in hamburger heaven! Chattaway is old-school (and all the better for it) so dining is open-air in the quaint courtyard. There are few pleasures in life as good as sitting in beautiful Florida weather, surrounded by lush greenery, and eating a gloriously messy old-fashioned burger.

The burgers might be a dry cleaner’s nightmare, but they’re good! Hand crafted juicy burgers with cheese melted perfectly and bacon done to a crisp, all served in a basket with homemade fries. There are also soups, salads, appetizers and sides all made in-house, and like the burgers they all come with the true taste of Old Florida.

Great atmosphere, great food, great prices (this is a cash-only eatery), no wonder Chattaway is as popular today as it was ninety years ago!
