SoHoparty central just got a whole lot spicier with the recent opening of Mateo's Fresh Mex Bar & Grill in the heart of S Howard Ave. Combining taste-bud tingling Mexican food with a bar full of ice cold drafts and longnecks, Mateo’s is becoming one of the most popular hangouts along the strip.

Their extensive selection of imported and domestic beers is cheaper than at most of the neighboring pubs, there’s an open bar ($10 cover) on Wednesdays and Saturdays, $3 Coronas on Fridays, and lots of live entertainment. It all means Mateo’s certainly delivers a lot more bang (or should that be beer) for your buck. And not just beer, there’s a selection of wines and a special house sangria of ‘Pomegranate Red & Pear White’.

Then there’s the food. The Mateo’s menu is packed with fresh Mexican fare including tacos, quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, salads and sides to satisfy the hungry dinner squad, as well as cater to the late night pub crawlers. Of course having their own bar and a large, attractive outdoor patio to relax on, you really don’t need to go on a pub crawl – Mateo’s has it all under one roof.
